Lowther Forestry Group – Flood Prevention Scheme
The positive effect of Tyla’s work can be measured in various ways with improvements to the water’s edge and bank […]
Catastrophic tree failure and damage is not only dangerous but can cause significant property loss and will be expensive to remove.
With tree failure, a tree can be subjected to high wind loading pressures resulting in weak parts of the tree being snapped or pushed over and damaged. There is very little you can do to protect a tree from extreme weather conditions as the wind force on a tree is often too great for the tree’s cellular wood structure. But poor management advice, previous tree abuse, poor maintenance and pest problems all predispose the tree to storm damage by weakening the supporting wood.
When storm damage occurs and a tree is blown down, you need to use extreme caution. Survey the tree from a distance and always make sure you stay away from any electrical wires (even if you think there is no live current). Don’t attempt to deal wth the danger without expert advice.
